What we collect, why we collect it, who helps us run GigaLearner, and the choices you have. Written as plainly as we could manage.

1. Who we are

GigaLearner ("GigaLearner", "we", "us") runs the GigaLearner app on the web (iPhone and Android apps coming soon), and the website at gigalearner.com. GigaLearner is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME AND ADDRESS — CONFIRM]. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use any of them.

2. What we collect

Account information

  • Your email address.
  • Your name, if you choose to give it.
  • Your password — stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text.

Learning data

  • The languages you're learning and your proficiency level.
  • Words you study and their status (new, struggle or confident), and any custom word lists.
  • Scenarios you type into the Scenario Builder, the lessons we generate from them, and phrases you save.

Purchases

Your subscription status, any top-ups you buy, and how many lessons and audio minutes you have used. Payments are handled by Apple, Google or Stripe; we never receive your full card number.

Basic technical data

Information such as device and browser type, app version, IP address and error logs, which we use to keep the service running and secure.

3. How we use it

  • To create and run your account and keep you signed in.
  • To generate lessons and lesson audio for the scenarios you request.
  • To track your progress, saved lessons and Struggle words, and personalise practice.
  • To process subscriptions and top-ups, and apply your plan's lesson and audio allowance.
  • To answer support requests, send service messages, and send our weekly scenarios email in the language you're learning. Every one has a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • To keep GigaLearner secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.

4. Lesson audio

Lesson audio is generated by a text-to-speech service from the lesson's text. We don't record or use your voice.

5. Services we use

We rely on a small number of trusted providers, each of which only receives what it needs to do its job:

  • Neon — database hosting for your account and learning data.
  • OpenAI — writing lesson scripts, and the weekly scenarios email, from the text you type.
  • ElevenLabs — generating lesson audio from lesson text.
  • RevenueCat — managing subscriptions bought in the iOS and Android apps.
  • Stripe — processing payments on the web.
  • Vercel — hosting the website and web app.
  • Resend — sending sign-in codes and our weekly scenarios email.

6. Sharing

We don't sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers above, when required by law, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger — in which case this policy would continue to apply.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your account and learning data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within [CONFIRM PERIOD], except where we must keep certain records (such as billing records) for legal reasons.

8. Your choices & rights

  • See, correct or download the personal information we hold about you.
  • Delete saved lessons and words at any time, or ask us to delete your account.
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any email.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law. To make a request, email privacy@gigalearner.com.

9. Children

GigaLearner is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

10. Security

We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords and access controls to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top and let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
